Moorebank Intermodal Terminal - Social Enterprise Registration of Interest

Moorebank Intermodal Company is seeking registrations of interest from suitably qualified respondents to identify an organisation, group or individual to support or establish a social enterprise that will deliver sustainable benefits to the local community in the area surrounding Moorebank Logistic Park, Moorebank.

The objective of the social enterprise is to be a self-sustainable project or business, requiring low capital funding support and strong connections to the community and its needs. After the initial setup, the social enterprise will be expected to generate funds that can be used to support other local community projects and causes.

The successful social enterprise will be expected to deliver the following:

  • an opportunity to gain work experience and / or ongoing employment;
  • an opportunity to gain life experience including language, social skills and confidence;
  • a safe and welcoming work environment;
  • links to training grants or other opportunities for training.

The enterprise is intended to be sustainable including being self-funding within 12 months.

Demonstrating value

The social enterprise must create social, environmental or economic value and may produce innovation, employment, social development or health benefits for the community. The respondent should be able to demonstrate value and benefit to the community.

Funding available

MIC is willing to contribute funding support to one or a small number of enterprises that can demonstrate positive social benefits within Moorebank and surrounding areas. Funding would be made available for the initial set up and establishment phases for new enterprises. Established social enterprises looking to expand will also be considered.

An understanding of current government or other applicable grants available to social enterprises, which may provide additional funding, is desirable.
